i download the file to my desktop and i type on terminal bunzip2 qnextsetup.tar.bz2
but i have the error:

kyirekos,

If you're saving to Desktop, do this:

1: Open Terminal.
2: Type cd Desktop <-- (Please note the Case of the "Desktop" part - it starts with a Capital letter)
3: the type: bunzip2 qnextsetup.tar.bz2
4: then type tar -xf qnextsetup.tar
5: proceed with the rest of your commands...

From this point the rest of the commands you gave in your message should work as expected.
When you save to Desktop, and then open a Terminal, you are in /home/yourusername/, and Desktop is a Directory/Folder within this "home" directory. If I understand what you're saying in line #3 of your second "step", then this is gonna create a directory/folder on your Desktop. If this is not what you want, then when you Download the file, save it to your Home directory, and proceed from there, by opening the Terminal, and you should see the file you downloaded there using the "ls -al | more" command to get a listing of the contents of the directory you are currently "in". Another useful command is "pwd" which will give the actual "Path" to the directory you are in at that time.
You may need to use sudo in front of each of the commands, if it says "Access denied" or some such message. This gives temporary Root privlidges, and ususlly get past the "access Denied" messages....

Hope this helps.. If not, please post back any problems or error messages, and I will try to assist.

I think if you just follow the instructions it just decompresses the tar file so you can get to the executable. It doesn't really install anything. But you can still launch the program.

Thank you very much for the help TexasMike! Thank u Cell for the info. yes is true all these commands they just extract the folder of the application to the place i want it
i feel so annoyed to say the truth cause i was trying to follow all these unkown for me commands from the qnext page and all they do was to extract the qnext folder to the place i want it.....
so i could just open the file qnextsetup.tar and press the extract button!!! and not follow the terminal way. just to extract it and press the qnext executable file and thats all u need to do! the application runs smoothly ! works great detects all my webcams and audio devices with no need for extra configuration. i just changed the quality of video from normal to high and thats all now i can video chat with 3 more people! thats so exciting for me looking so much for a nice messenger like this.

So it runs like a portable application from windows.I guess most of the linux apps run like in the portable way, that's why we don't have registry problems. :)

I think you can right-click on the executable and choose make link, then you can copy the link wherever.

Sorry, a bit off-topic, but Stanca, in your screenshot, Ultimate Edition 2.2? How's the progress of this?

This looks like a really useful app....a bit like Pidgin on steroids maybe??

If it does all that and make coffee and toast, maybe it can be incorporated into 2.2?

Just a thought.

Cheers
