Ultimatix for Intrepid Ibex

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.1

Ultimatix for Intrepid Ibex

Postby BobSongs » Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:05 pm

EDIT -> Please see my next post down. Thanks.

Greetings!

I have downloaded Ultimate Edition. The ISO is on DVD. I have an installation here of Intrepid Ibex - standard Canonical distribution.

I would like to put the most recent Ultimatix in Intrepid. Is it a .deb file on the Ultimate Edition setup DVD somewhere?

The most recent version from ultimateedition.info favors Hardy Heron and populates sources.list with Hardy/Harty repositories.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Forgive me for not making myself clear.

I currently have Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 installed on my PC.

The problem is that Ultimatix 1.8.0 favors Hardy Heron, 8.04, and populates Intrepid's sources.list with the following:

ULTAMATIX REPOS START
deb http://repoubuntusoftware.info harty all
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-updates multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-updates multiverse
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy multiverse
deb http://repoubuntusoftware.info harty all
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security multiverse
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security universe
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security universe
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security main restricted
deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner
#ULTAMATIX REPOS END

As you can see, these repositories conflict with Intrepid (8.10).

I noted the following. When starting Ultimatix 1.8.0, underneath the logo it displays: "Checking Ubuntu Version" followed quickly by: "Found None". This copy of Ultimatix seems to be unaware of Intrepid's existence.

The version of Ultimatix bundled with Ultimate 2.1 is based on Intrepid Ibex 8.10. Is it on the setup DVD somewhere as a .deb file, perhaps? I did search, but to no avail.

I stopped using Ultimate Edition 2.1 recently because it comes with a version of guichan that is incompatible with software I would like to run. However, I would like to try Ultimatix that is tuned for Intrepid... and not Hardy.

So. There is my dilemma.

Well, I guess you will just have to wait till Thee releases a new one. You can add most of what you need using Synaptic and find the other stuff by googling.

That's true. I do appreciate it.

Thanks! I look forward to the next release.
