I try to install last Fotoxx version (6.1.3) http://kornelix.squarespace.com/downloads/
But I have error message

missing: /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gtk/gtk.h

How to correct that ?

I think it has something to do with this:

Dependencies: To build these programs, you need two packages: the GNU C++ compiler (package g++) and the GTK development libraries (package libgtk2.0-dev). These are the Ubuntu package names, but they are available in all Linux distros, possibly under different names. Use your package manager to install if needed.

I would try install "libgtk2.0-dev" with Synaptic

If you want to compile and build yourself packages from sources you need indeed to have more programs or applications.I would search through synaptic for:build-essentials,checkinstall,cmake,etc.You can install some through ultimatix:

Yes if it complains about missing header (.h) files, install whatever -dev package it is complaining about. For example, if something complains about pangocairo, install the pango and cairo dev packages.

After installing Developers Essentials with Ultamatix, I tried to install again Fotoxx and I always have same error

Fotoxx has the following dependencies. The first three are
required for installation and the remaining for operation.
Exact package names depend on your Linux distribution.

I guess that package is written in c,try install cmake:
sudo apt-get install cmake
Doesn't have that package an install text file,make file text,etc. inside ,usually they have.

Yes,I've read the link page again,I downloaded tha tarball too and have read the readme file too.All he needs is to install the necessary programs and dependencies,especially the first 3 of them.I don't understand if he installed all of them or he has problems installing dependencies,that missing
libgtk2.0-dev. If it's that so I'm affraid for repo's problems and first of all he has to solve them(gpg keys,keyring errors,etc,or adding the necessary repos in the third-party software sources).

OK, now we are out of my debt

Trying to install gives

Dependency: libgtk2.0-0 (=2.14.4-0ubuntu1), but 2.14.4-0ubuntu2 will be installed
Dependency: libpango1.0-dev, but is not going to be installed
Dependency: libcairo2-dev, but is not going to be installed

and trying to get "libpango1.0-dev" installed first don't work either.

It seems that all the packages is in the repro, but they can't be installed at the same time.

Hope someone more clever than me has an explanation
