Problem playing DVDs.

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.1

Problem playing DVDs.

Postby Tango » Fri Mar 13, 2009 12:20 am

I cannot play commercial DVDs. I get the following error message: Could not read from resource. All codecs are installed. Ultimate 2.1, 64bit. System: Core2duo. Nvidia card. I had the same problem with 2.0, but installed 2.1 before I got round finding out about the problem. Cheers

Go to Synaptic Package Manager and install libdvdcss2. This is the library to play encrypted dvds. If that doesn't work, install totem xine and remove totem gstreamer and use totem to play your dvds. There is also ubuntu-restricted-extras that you can also install. Or you can use vlc media player.

Mplayer also comes with pre installed codecs. You can give that a try.

Installed libdvdcss2. Everything plays now. Except one disc gave me error: Failed to connect to stream.
Thank you all very much again. Sorry I am a bit late with this. Damn work. :)
I am left with one little problem I have had with all Linux installations. The sound playback is very low in a lot of cases. Is there any way to fix that? :?:
