I set mine to no effects at all. I got tired of Opera crashing with effects enabled. Your computer is much faster without any special effects.

if i want to see a full length film i just can have the awn enabled and go to vlc is all much easier this way. mainly these media centres are good when u have to go through your big collection from distance with your wireless keyboard so i was trying to use the xbmc mainly with music videos or pictures so is not really nice to turn on and off awn all time to see some videos some photos etc. so ill better stay with the elisa for my media needs and exaile for my music needs ill try later the entertainer 0.3 maybe ill have more luck with it. i prefer to watch film but keep my awn1 what can i say i like the awn so much more than to go through the traditional boring style. ;)

yes i did it this way but my awn disappeared !! and the truth is that i use a lot my media so if i do this i must have disabled all day the awn because all day my pc is playing media songs videos or photos i dont have the bottom panel so even to go from the one program to the other i just click the running applications on the awn same time im listening my songs .also my opera is not crashing at all working perfect with compiz extra effects enabled and i have opera also loaded with many widgets and themes but i still have no crash! i wish they can fix this and make xbmc compatible so i can use it some time later. thanks ill wait for later version ;)

XBMC is for a home theater setup. It works great for attaching a high def television(and a stereo) to your computer so you can run all your media with the best quality audio and video. It's really a waste to use with a 15" computer monitor and cheap computer speakers. I have my computer hooked up to a stereo and large television and that is it's purpose.

yes i think is very popular these days to connect your pc with your home theater system and many are doing media pc's to use them only for this purpose as it is much better than a traditional dvd player with amplifier and tv. i have hooked my pc with my amplifier too and 5 speakers that i did my self the 2 main of them. but u cant really use your system in regular every day use through a big monitor-tv for editing photoshop or googling informations so i use a 22' screen and if somebody comes around and i want to use it as my media system then i connect it with a bigger lcd screen i have (37') but is not good for general use i find it hard to navigate through internet pages from a big screen. 8-)

That's why you have a video card so you can send your desktop to your big screen for movie watching and back to your monitor for working(and a cordless mouse and keyboard)!
