Update problems

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.1

Update problems

Postby Z.K. » Wed Mar 11, 2009 3:18 am

I am having some problems with the updates of the new Ultimate Edition 2.1. Specifically, the update dialog lists:

libcairo2, mplayer, and pidgin-libnotify, but when I try to do the update, it says it cannot find them. What repositories should be enabled to get 2.1 to update properly.

Hi all, (I am a bit of a linux beginner...)
I have the exact same problem as mentioned by the initial poster. I have removed pidgin as I don't use it and that has got rid of my update icon AND, it has greyed out the mPlayer and libcairo2 entries in the update manager. For me I think this is problem solved, but I still have no idea why the libcairo2 and mplayer are still listed in there but not able to do anything.

Also, I went to the link and enabled the other repositories as suggested.

Thanks :)
Rosbif is on the CASE....

Maybe I'm the only one. I haven't seen anyone else post this. I have searched my sources, and the updater is giving me problems with repos that aren't in my list. Where else might Ultimate Edition be getting software from?

'Where else might Ultimate Edition be getting software from?'
Where do you think being based on Ubuntu?
Did you try another mirror? There are over 200 of them around the world.

Yes, I ran Ultimatix, this was previous to checking my sources.list several times.
I have changed my mirror 2x
This:
Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/googlegadgets/ ... ackages.gz 404 Not Found
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
is not in my sources.list. I have removed googlegadgets from my system as I am not aware of anyplace that I'm using any of them. I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

Uncheck it in your third party repos using Synaptic Package Manager. That's it.
