p.s. Maybe one of you fine gentlemen can search your entire /usr/share directory(learn C+ while your at it --you may have to use that to fix it) and post back with your detailed results.

LOL Wow pch that was a bit harsh, but none the less I got tough skin and took your insight and found out how to change it, it may not be the way it should be done but it worked for what people have been asking for so without further ado the way I disabled Tux was by running the following code:
Code: Select all
sudo gedit /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme
of course you can use whatever editor you comfortable with but anyhow change the line "Inherits="most likely tuxcursor"" to "Inherits="name of cursor theme you want to use"" of course without the quotes then save and reload your xsession (ie Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) and viola tux is gone!! Hope this helps people out even though I'm sure there's an easier way to achieve the same outcome, I just haven't figured it out yet.........pch!?

EDIT: This thread should be marked as SOLVED (at least for now)

I like and respect you for that a lot. I may seem a bit harsh sometimes but that is the only way sometimes people will use their own brain. Good for you. A lot of people will be very happy now. Maybe you are Admin material?

I appreciate the ego boost, but I'm far from admin material, I mean I'm not a total Ultimate Edition newb since I've been a loyal user since Ultimate Edition 1.4 but there's still a lot I have to learn but I'm constantly and always willing to even if it means racking my brain and sifting through seemingly endless files on my linux box for days until I figure out what I'm trying to do or fix, but like you said a lot of people will be happy now that they have their answer even if it's a quick and dirty one

I had to disable pulse audio one time to get my sound to work and I spent close to a week to find the solution.
I searched probably every file there was but I got my sound working!!!

Hello Gents.

Just want to add my share to the new hanging penguin discovery. Lastnight i would have posted my version of getting rid of the penguin saga, but i was too sleepy to type. Anyways, what i found out was very simple, i open up Compiz Fusion and selected the general options and then, reset settings to the default value for "cursor theme". Thats all i did and it worked like a charm.
