Copy - a good cloud service

Postby tanmay.01 » Wed Jul 03, 2013 6:08 am

I was not sure at first how copy (cloud service by barracuda) would be. It seems its UI is quite good. Infact very. All of their apps look good.

And the most important part,

1. IT HAS A LINUX CLIENT
2. INTEGRATES WITH NAUTILUS
3. IT HAS COMMAND LINE OPTION
4. IT ALSO HAS A API WITH IT, TO USE HOW YOU LIKE.

and yes it gives 15gb + 5gb(if referred) = 20gb.

Incase you want 20gb here's my referral link => https://copy.com?r=RiXeLY

This is pretty kool. Although if you are on Ubuntu you might as well use Ubuntu One. But you can always use BOTH. I like how Copy connected to my gravatar too. ;)

Your referral didn't work for me. :?

1 more thing it has .. When data is shared among people . the size is divided equally among them .no 1 takes the burden. Barracuda is a better brand than Ubuntu one . I have an account over there just in case there is single sign on for Ubuntu everywhere which is pretty much happening.

I am also not a big fan .. But its good to save not much imp documents like scripts .. Study material .. I also have 100gb of box for free and skydrive 25gb since I signed in at the very beginning. But the things is Google is dominating or exploiting areas where there is no money for tech by providing chrome books and giving Google apps free to students . eventually people are willing using cloud without knowing motive of companies. and looking the current situation of PRISM .. I don't know what's the state in USA...?

Tanmay thanks for the tip, I have 35 GB of storage there soon will have terabytes, 20 GB you are indeed responsible for. I have signed up under you and recieved the 20 GB as expected, I further ensued to the 35GB I currently have, liked the service so well I have debianised thier client to a single package that opens the eyes, I have asked them to take my deb and accept it as our new cloud service. I understand perhaps no-one understands what I refer to Ubuntu-one can suck a big one this is where we will go for free. GOOGLE DRIVE does not provide the service they do.

I have already written and know works the deb to set them off the chain, the simpletons I have spoke to from there have no clue what I refer to and I asked to be contacted by a Linux Programmer. I am going to be straight, I am about to blog about this service, what do you think will happen? 78,000 people a day, lets say 1% sign up under me giving them an extra 5 GB and me an extra 5 GB... Hmmm. Ready to rock?

The only and I do mean only red flag I see is the amout of space consumption. They do want your service and I can understand that. They also want to be paid once again lets say 1 % of the people I send them is not satisfied with the 20 GB of free storage provided and purchases 100GB etc.

I do not want to put it all out there, however the client runs perfectly under any Debian base. It was repostormed and is smaller then thier tar.gz app they release. Thier programmers try to cover all bases. Tell them to send me the code and I will re-write it lol I am used to this crap, Seagate had no problem taking my code. Funny I offered Baracuda networks royalty free distribution & currently ignored.

Cool ;)

I saw the other day your name poping in the referral list. Thanks for the 5gb.

Yes its probably the best option on linux as they have acknowledged it as a platform. And 20gb is enough for the regular user. Other options are cheap compared to other services. And web UI is also good along with good API's.

Google Drive .. cant say anything as i dont think they'll support nix. But it has some cool features (i'll make a how to).

About your referral space , they have a quota for that. In the start i read people ending with terabytes. So, now they don't offer space over a certain limit. :(

And saw you post on copy support. SAD that they are not taking an optimized version.
