Yes is me again back to rant like normal! Here is a thing that is getting frustrating and I am hoping to eventually learn how to put an end to it! In Linux we have some of these command line programs that are kind of small, and real wishy-washy! You know, the types that might work and then again, might not? I just saw smoke coming out of my ears on one of these! Yes one of these little beauties told me I should get a Windoze program to do the job???? I say NO NO NO!!! I say it is time we cut the umbilical cord!!!! No, I am not saying we should all uninstall Wine! I am saying these gui-less programs need to become gui!!! Whether we combine some of these small fries into one or what, we still need them! As Linux has advanced severely in the past few years, some old command line type(no gui's) remain and at times unaccounted for by software developers, that unfortunately do not consider their presence! Why isn't their presence considered???? Because we fail to believe what we can not see!!!! I am not stating we should have a bunch of swiss army knives in Linux, either. All I know is there has to be some sort of happy medium and something that leaves us independent from other OS's!!!! When I say swiss*** I refer to too many programs in one. As it sits now at times is like we can not even dress ourselves. Is like I need 5 people to put each piece of clothing on me! Is a strange example, but please think about this? Most times when using a program in Linux one piece is here, another is there and who knows where the other 10 pieces are???? Sure many of these connections are needed, but not all!!! I am also making strict reference to programs that need certain pieces to run and without them are useless. Why are these pieces not included??? Open source. Most likely one author wrote one program that joins with the other. There has to be a way to just entwine them, which will leave all users ecstatic!!! To me is on the order of buying a car, but you then have to go somewhere else for the battery, tires, and keys! As a buyer that would be not acceptable. Well many OS users out there feel that is not acceptable for an OS either! I can honestly say, I side with that!!!! Linux is a great system, it just needs to stop sweeping those little programs under the rug!!! They need to advance with Linux become useful and work together with all other programs to make Linux the best ever!!! Am sure will also make developers happy as not to have to keep fiddling with forcing things to work all the time!!!! Just saying what is on my mind, not meant to offend anyone and is only meant in the best interests for everyone! I hope to someday soon obtain enough knowledge to embark on this!!! I just want it great for everyone whether user, programmer or developer!!!!

You know BBoss I always liked the BSD philosophy of kernel and userland. You may find it interesting...

BBOSAK2143, you must also realize that 99% of the people involved with linux are there not only because of freedom and
sharing but also the ability of 'financial freedom' that linux bestows upon its users and workers.
Apart from toying around and being a 'Toy', the spectrum and freedom offered by linux knows no bounds.
You choose what you can and want to do.

Like Micro said the BSD guys have their agenda. Nothing funky, without flippancy, they dont care who likes their OS or who wants to use it but what they are
certain about is that tasks that require monotony and atypical behaviour work only with BSD.
Bank ATM's and industrial equipment where money and human lives are at stake will only use BSD.
BSD converts a computer into a digital watch. So you know what goes wrong and where.

Linux on the other hand can become highly purpose-bound.
It can do whatever BSD can, and infact better. But there are many places where you dont need modding work.

Yes, pam and I had no intentions of sounding as if I am trying to demean anyone. I was just trying to point out there are older programs that need fixing. I am in hopes to fix these small programs as to help!!! There are also others that can be combined so they can be more effective and used as meant to! I did get pretty irate yesterday, because of the fact I love Linux so much!!! What happened that brought this point to light, was using a command line program mdf2iso. Is now on the verge of being useless, due to many changes that have superseded it! Then I went to use Acetoniso which then referred me to PowerISO which is predominately a Windoze program! I then thought about the "what if?" I mean what happens if by some chance Windoze folds??? We have to be prepared just like the ole "Boy Scout motto" "Be Prepared" To be dependent on any other OS is not a great thing. We have to assure LInux can stand on its own two feet and there is no reason why this can not be done!!! There are huge demands on our developers with OS and Software. Everyone wants to go to the moon!!!! So now as these developers beat themselves to a pulp to accomplish great feats, there is older menial programs that can become an obstruction to progress!!! I just want to help is all!!! I am hoping to find time eventually and fix some of these small deals so it can in turn help these brilliant people progress!!! I have never in my life, seen feats as some of these people have taken on, done so well and awesome. I am selfish in this point, as I personally want to see more of it!!! I love progress, and if there is a way to keep it going am going to do my best for it!!!! I also want it better for the next person. If you notice, when I jump in on some of the questions, is usually a spot where I spent hours going in the wrong direction!!! Just want to help and never mean any offense to anyone. I do get frustrated though as I am reaching high and fast and only grabbing down below!!! I will keep working away and hope will become successful to help everyone!!! Micro, yes BSD is interesting and different, but really I do love the freedom and disposition of Linux much more!!! Is like I said above, just getting frustrated that I am not learning fast enough to fix these issues and help Linux as it has help me along with everyone here!!!! Have to take a minute as it has finally dawned on me what your names mean, pam and micro! Absolutely brilliant!!!! Congrads on being totally Linux. pam = Environmental Variables, micro = Microcode Validation. Absolutely love it!!!! I think I should go for something like xd-user. You know me how I want to make the desktop easier and all?? Probably suit me good!!! Anyway as am absolutely grateful for all help both of you have given me, I do not want to offend in any way at all!!! Just want to help the cause and make it great for everyone!!!!!
