Absolutely love that!!!! Sounds like the same things I was enjoying a few years ago when I lived closer to the city! Sure I love it out here in the sticks(MT Pleasant, TN), but yes do miss a few of the things I came from back near Chicago!I used to ride my bicycle around the neighborhood night before garbage day and check things out! Sometimes would go back grab my car and pick the stuff up. Old computer parts here and there, bicycles, stereos etc! Out here best can do is go to the dump! Not a lot of real good pickings over here, most things there really are trashed!!! Now that you are talking Old PCs, figured would add my 2 cents about a laptop will try to revive. With only a 300mhz processor am certain Ultimate is out of the question! Need a little more of an engine to run this beauty!!! Have been reading up a bit and figure ZevenOS5 would be a good shot to turn it from a paperweight gathering dust back to functional! Sure I did run XP on it, but was huffing and puffing to do so! A few months ago, I tried to get a download of Zevon but it just would not totally complete! When I saw it on Distro yesterday figured would be in luck and was! Downloaded it to Ultimate 3.4 on my flash in about 20 minutes. Loaded it on VBOX and was very easy and simple to install! Since it works so easy and well, am curious if TheeMahn has given advice for it or had some collaboration with it! Is very impressive for a little OS! It's interface looks quite like Haiku which also impresses me. Haiku is very machine like or precision. Hard to totally define, but this Zevon is remarkably close in its looks and actions! Is just a great thing to have developers that are also trying to revive our relics and save overfilling of landfills! Is another time to stand up and salute Linux! Getting back to yours though, please keep us informed want to hear about it, love this stuff! As I always say, love it here cause a lot of interests are so similar to my own!!!!!

EDO! Haven't heard that in a few years! Miss the one used to have set for just downloading. Went crazy back in the day when cable first came out! Put together a real makeshift, had more ram than processor. Did the trick for what I wanted to get though! Have to wait til next weekend with my old laptop. No time and have to get the battery for the CMOS. Only a few dollars so won't kill. Couldn't resist it a few years back as got it for $20. Had a hard drive for it put it in loaded it, but with that 300mhz running XP is kind of a bear. Figured with the response of the ZevenOS should be a little quicker. Is great you got it going and sure do thank you for bringing back some great memories!!!!Not sure what the specs are on Zeven5 OS but do remember reading it was for these lower end types as mine is! My first computer was even worse, had the cyrix processor. Talk about Altzheimer's, it was sure there!!! Of course if it weren't for that machine, I would know nothing at all! A friend built it for me, claimed it was great, boy was he wrong! That crazy makeshift one out performed it! Of course didn't build that til after I built 3 other computers, which really made my first look terrible! Sure did get a charge when my friend came to my house a few years later on machine 3 and then asked me for advice! Gave it to him of course, but did laugh to myself as I was totally uneducated and he had completed a few years of college. Similar course to which I am doing presently! Do admit at first did give me a bad taste for college, but then came to the realization everyone has different perceptions! He is better than me in networking, whereas I can build a better computer! If I could only get a little more proficient at programming, maybe I will be good to go! Anyway am sure grateful as you have brought back some great memories that are very close to me! Thanks and best of luck with that machine, hoping it does all it can do for you and you have fun with it!
