You should see the latest Nvidia drivers for XP. You have to install them twice and be careful what you change or you will be installing them again. What crap!!!

In my xp 32bit I'm stuck with 169 nvidia driver,nothing newer works anymore.
Intel H61 ASrock H61M-VS Motherboard,
Cpu Intel Ci3 13-2100 3.10Ghz 64bit 3MB Box,
RAM 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Elixir,
Palit Nvidia Geforce 210 1GB DDR3 PCI-E.
Dual-boot Ultimate Edition 3.4 x86_64/Windows 8 x64.
Linux user # 492560.

Go Intel if you do this time. You won't be disappointed. They are releasing 32 nano cpus later this year and I would imagine they will be affordable and fast based on the price/value of the i7 and the state of the economy.

The price of the i7 is not going to drop much. Intel will be releasing budget versions of the socket 1366 later on this year including laptop versions but you still will need a new motherboard and ddr3 ram. I would imagine th sockett 775 will be fazed out at some point soon as well as ddr2 ram. The AMD Phenom II is getting good reviews(still not up to i7 performance) and you can use a cheap AM2 motherboard and ddr2 ram with it, so an upgrade is much cheaper.

Not the i7 920. For 400 bucks Canadian it is a bargain. It is on par with the last 1500 buck one Intel released performance wise.With every new Intel release there is always a bargain. When I got my E6400 it was a good deal at the time based on price/performance.
p.s. My new build can process video 3 times as fast as the E6400 which I paid 250 bucks for. You do the math!!!

I abandoned windoze when the me edition came out.
I have been using unix ever since.
Kubuntu has been my preferred OS, I have tried allsorts incuding bsd.
Linux runs on old and new hardware.
Windoze sucked when me was released so situatin normal!

Good for you. I wish I had discovered Linux long ago. I'm on the hunt for alternatives for the MS applications I'm using right now. I'm well on my way. A year from now I will have found them all(maybe sooner).
