Works - Sort Of...

I have had these problems before and I have no clue how to fix these two buggers:

1. In the work space switcher, at start up is is quite small as it defaults back to one space. If I right click on it and change the peferences to 4 spaces, none of the other desktops work. For example, if you're in desktop #2 and open Firefox, it opens in desktop #1. The next time you boot up, you have only one desktop. Any ideas?

2. If I want to rotate the cube to switch to another workspace, I have no cube at all. It looks like a double sided graphic instead of a cylinder or a cube. It rotates and all, but I would much rather have more than two sides. This happened after I tried booting to Cinnamon in 3.4 where I only get two icons: Computer and Home. (Besides the default desktop, only the Ubuntu environment works well). Any ideas?

Since this is a new installation, I thought of simply re-loading the OS, but I have to go through Ubuntu to set up my printer. The Gnome environment won't load my printer, but Ubuntu will have it up and running in a matter of 60 seconds. Go figure.

Thanks for all suggestions! :vil_biere

1-change the default desktops to more than one in Compiz Settings Manager unger general settings
2-change the way it looks under reflection and deformation
Need more info on the printer issue. CUPS Web Interface is nice and if you have an HP Printer you may want to look into HPLIP. Hope this helps...
