I propose that this would be the place to put any tweaks or workarounds for laptop users.
so far 1.8 and 1.9 x.86 ver. works out of the box on my Toshiba P205-s6337 laptop the webcam works with "CHEESE"

I am still working on the fingerprint reader aspect will post as soon as I get it working ( gonna be a while though)

Tweak? Yeah, I guess this qualifies.

Was having a problem with my laptop sound after installing Ultimate Edition 2.0: sound was working but only had the right channel no matter what I tried. Here's where the tweak comes in. Pulseaudio and ALSA were both installed by default and apparently my system was confused ... I certainly was. Whether or not Pulseaudio was the problem, I uninstalled it and reinstalled all the appropriate ALSA stuff. After this, all was as it should be ...

Hi, I'm also creating a new thread on my following question, but thought since it was mentioned, maybe you could help?

I have a Dell Precision M2400 laptop with the bio-metric fingerprint lock. I'm not familiar with this security, but is there a way to bypass this while it's locked. I don't care about the contents of the HDD, I just wanna wipe and do fresh install anyways, but I can't. Settings won't let me into bios, OS, won't boot from disc, LAN or USB. Bios jumper/battery doesn't work since it's a separate system pre-bios. The laptop isn't stolen, but don't have enough info for Dell to give a generated unlock code. Thanks

Negative. Goes straight to biometric screen even when any displayed F key option is pressed. No access to bios or OS
