Instalation freeze on NEC Mate MY0V/FE-1

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.9

Instalation freeze on NEC Mate MY0V/FE-1

Postby szaemon » Fri Sep 18, 2009 5:39 am

Hi guys,
I just got a new (refurbished) NEC Mate. Out of the box it is infected with a Japanese version of Windows XP. I'm trying to install Ultimate installed from a proven Live DVD that has been used on my 2 other PCs, so the disk is not the problem. The Live DVD loads up fine then after the installation is complete and I would expect to see the Ultimate's familiar dark screen, it gets a bit to dark. The blinking cursor at the top left disappears and then the whole screen goes black. I get the same results from 1.8,1.9 and 2.0.

Could some kind soul give me a hand with this please?
Thanks

Hi szaemon,
Can't find your system in Google. Would you mind posting your system specifications please - and in particular, your video specifications.

Cheers.

Ooh! Google doesn't have me listed... that's scary. I'll see what I can figure out from the Japanese manual and post back.

Thanks Moebius

Re: Instalation freeze on NEC Mate PC-MY30VFEET

Postby szaemon » Sun Sep 20, 2009 10:40 am

Thanks for the assistance Moebius. I have to mention here that the computer in question is in an office 2 hours away this one and is not yet on line, so please forgive the time lag in responding to your assistance.

As for recovery mode, I haven't tried that. Is that an option from the live CD? I'll have to check it again. Let me clarify that I'm not able to fully load the Live CD. It appears to load properly as if to start the initial live session, then just as the loading bar completely fills up, the screen goes blank, a cursor appears at the top left corner for a few moments, then the screen goes BLACK(which it distinctly different from going Blank)

Video Information: My computer's ID of MY0V/FE-1 is not correct. I guess that is the refurbished model number it was given by the store. The correct one is PC-MY30VFEET. There is no Graphics Card and according to the store that sold it to me, I can't install one. Instead it is a Chip Set

Intel 945g Express Chip Set

Here are a couple links to pages describing it:
http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/c ... erview.htm
http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=8765

Not being very Techi, I'm not sure if this is the information you might need. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you assist me.

Thanks Again Moebius and advanced gratitude to anyone else who offers their assistance!

Thanks for your clarification szaemon - it sounded like the live DVD worked but install failed in your first post. During your initial boot from the DVD, choose Start Ultimate Edition In Safe Graphics Mode and let us know what happens. ;)
Don't worry about the time lag - works both ways

Cheers.

Should have posted that earlier, safe mode has the same result. I've also tried every combination allowed using the F4 and F6 key options listed for the live DVD Install... same result. The other advanced options listed I'm not sure exactly how to implement. I have found some complaints refering to a problem with Intel's 945gm Chip Set< though I don't know if that would be the same thing or not.
Thanks Again for your help.

Thanks Moebius,

I don't know if it will help either, but I guess I'll try the "F4-safe graphics mode and F6-no apci, esc, right arrow to get to the command prompt..." and the rest. It seems like an awful lot of work, but if I have no other options...Oh well.

Wish Me Luck!

And thanks again,
Sean
