Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.9

Installation problem

Postby Foxblood » Fri Nov 07, 2008 1:59 pm

Hi,

Well, it didn't take me long to run into problems. I have a 330 G hard drive that contains Vista, Xp and the remnants of Mint. I was installing Ultimate Edition and got as far as the partition screen. I'm not sure how to proceed, the largest amount of space I can use seems to be about 7 G, not what I want, I'm unfamiliar with partitioning in general. How can I get Ultimate Edition to use free space on the largest partition, the one with Vista? The installation seems intant on using free space from the XP partition which is small.I have already removed the Mint partition, I think. When I reboot, I get the error 22 so using Vista or XP is not an option at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there's any way to post more relevant info please let me know

Why don't you use the manual option and install Ultimate Edition in the 17gb unallocated space mounted with /?

The problem w/ the using the partion that vista is on is that NFTS doesn't work w/ linux...I had to reistall vista (use their partionier) and drop it in the block i wanted and i left the rest blank. then used Ultimate Edition's partioner to split up the other to spots (ext3, and FAt 32).

You must formate the new partition with the mounting point of "/", and as ext3. The "/" is the root mount point.
