You're attempting to install Ultimate Edition v1.9, correct? Because I've never been prompted for a username and password during an install except when it's establishing the username and password. The error seems to indicate that the installer does not like your "case". Are you typing in all CAPS? If so, try using all lower case. I'm not sure what else to tell you, I've never run into this before.

yes sir, i try it in lower case.. i'm stuck when i'm here "http://forumubuntusoftware.info/download/file.php?id=2001&sid=5aa4d805f83c1058d215a8a4eb9cddd0&mode=view"

it says username password invalid

Okay... I'm confused.

That might be what you need to do if you want to use the LiveDVD, but I thought you said you were trying to INSTALL Ultimate to your hard drive. And as I recall, for a LiveDVD session, you just have to choose your keyboard layout and language preference... There should be no GDM on a "Live" session.

Soooo... Which is it: LiveCD or installing to the hard drive?
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am...

If it's not broken, you haven't tweaked it enough.

If you want to get rid of Windows for good do this:
Backup any data you have on your hard drive to a usb drive or disc first.
Download and burn this to disc: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
Before you go to this next step: download and install this: http://www.macrium.com/ and make an image of your Windows install and save it somewhere else besides your main hard drive.
Format your whole hard drive where Ultimate will reside as ext3.
Now, insert the Ultimate 1.9 disc and install. It is really not that hard!!! In fact with your setup you should be up and running in 1/2 hour.
p.s. It is really not any different than Windows. Just a whole lot easier and faster!!

If you want to Keep Windows and dual boot Windows and Ultimate do this:
Split your hard drive into 2 partitions one for Windows and one for Ultimate.
Install Windows on the first partition.
Then put in the Ultimate disc and install it selecting manual install on the second partition.
The whole process should take you about 2 hours.

booting it from live dvd,no installation yet, btw, xp is my primary 0S and would attempt a 2nd boot for Ultimate, but this is happening, when i chose english setup for my keyboard and hit start or install Ultimate,i'll wait for about ten minutes and it will go to a login screen for Ultimate, asking for username password.
