not booting from live dvd[solved] for baphomet, angel

dont know how to delete my other thread. solved my problem with the live dvd not loading. tried all of the things you suggested baphomet.got me to thinking (im new to linux only about 8 months).a friend told me no matter what i did while i was running the live dvd that it would not save the changes i made to it. finally figured out it was not reconging my sli video cards. got my friend to take my drive to his house and load it with the ultimate 64 bit. when he brought it back we booted it and went into the recovery mode. i loaded my video cards running envyng -t. and it booted.have you run across this problem before. sorry about not answering sooner but between a wife and four granddaughters and a job i stay busy. by the way really like this os it is really nice.it got the attention of my friend and he is a linux mint nut. finally got him to running 64 bit.

Why don't you just take out one of the cards and install like that? Once its done, maybe you'll have some luck with the other card being recognized when you plug it back in.

Have you tried installing from an alternate install DVD? I know there is not an official one but the easiest way for you to make an alternate install DVD of ultimate edition is if you are running a deb based linux distro already just use reconstructor on the ISO of ultimate edition and change it to an alternate install build or use TheMahn's shell script to build your own distro from a chroot. I know thats what I had to do on my AlienWare Area 51 m17x laptop with SLI config of dual Nvidia 8800MGTX vid cards.

I know you have already got it working though, but I figure if you ever find this happening again it would be easier than having your friend take your hard drive and install it elsewhere then bring it back.

TheMahn's Script: http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=920&p=8176&sid=407608b68e715a8bb76e87e65e743fd7&sid=407608b68e715a8bb76e87e65e743fd7#p8176

cant say how happy i have been with the combination of this laptop, and ultimate edition 1.9
even if the laptop did cost $7,000

Holy crap dude! <your/sig>You have a serious sickness .... you need to call C.B.A. (computer builders anonymous) and get yourself a sponsor.... you need help. Estimated cost for a computer to be $30k!?!?!? I hope you mean 30,000 nickels and not dollars :o
I want pictures when its done! ... don't know if I've ever seen a $30K computer before (for the home).

yea everyone says I have issues, which I suppose is true. I'm building it out of components meant for research facilities. It will have 264 cores and 512 Gigs, yes i said gigs, of RAM.

Actually if you add a few of the new fusion-io storage pci units(320gig=8900 bucks) you will be up to 30K in no time!! If I had 30K I'd build the best computer I could including no more moving parts except the cpu fan!!
I think it will look something like this Daddy:
