Did you try the 'safe graphics mode'? I only recommend this because it actually did this to my computer as well (last time I installed it) and was scratching my head for a while till I realized that 1.9 was forcing the nvidia driver instead of allowing 'vesa' driver. After I did this it went through with the install.

I'm sorry your having problems. What is your MD5SUM for the downloaded 1.9?
What speed did you burn it at? What software did you use? I hate the fact that this is the 'standard' procedure to someone having issues installing 1.9 or any version of Ultimate Edition for that matter, but it is the truth. More than likely you have a bad download / bad DVD drive/ or a conflict with your bios and installing another OS in your computer. I have actually worked on a Dell, that had a built in BIOS feature that you had to enable in order to install an OS. This fixed my problem. Do any of these things sound like a possibility :?:

FYI, The x86 and 32bit are two names for the same thing. Same about 64bit and AMD64.
What you need is the 32bit (x86) version. You can find the donwload here. But PLEASE, try to use the Torrent download, it's faster. ;)

Thanks To TheeMAn,

Finally a distro I can love. You have done a fantastic job. You are definitely married to your code and writing it.

Goodbye windows.......OH what peace of mind I will now have. Ultimate 1.9 is stable, looks and works great.
I do not game much any more. But the high tek look and feel of this distro of yours handles all the other stuff I do. I am a photographer(amateur) and it works just great for all my needs.
Asus G1s laptop with 4Gig of ram, intel core duo 2.0 Ghz, 256 meg video 8600m GT on nvidia drivers.
I am running all 64 bit on my laptop and it has never run so well. It came loaded with Vista32 bit. Tried Vista 64
but it proved to be as unstable as the 32 bit version. I have an older PC running XP pro french for my daughter and she wishes there were a french distro that she could use. She will have to learn english.

Writing from Quebec City, Canada.
