Dear All,
I am facing a problem with my laptop. My laptop battery is getting discharged after half an hour of operation. can any one help me in solving the problem.

below is the configuration.

Compaq Pressario V3335TU, Intel Dual Core Processor. Ultimate Edition 1.9. 1GB RAM.
Compaq Pressario V3335TU
Intel 945GM motherboard
1.67GHz Intel Dual - Core Processor
1GB RAM, Intel onboard graphics card
160GB SATA HDD.

go into Synaptic Package Manager and install gnome-power-manager...

i have installed the same. but still i am facing the same problem. can anyone give me a solution as soon as possible...

... then go back to Synaptic and have a look at 'powertop'...and if that doesn't work, then try Google search...

My laptop is 2 years old. and also when i am using vista before, i had not had any problem with power management. can u tell me any other solution for the same.

Looks like you have a whole bunch of issues with switching, so I'm going to post you a link(Ihaven't used it, but it says free trial) to O'Reilly books...the one I have and use is "Linux Desktop Pocket Guide" it has a whole section devoted to Laptops(I don't have 1) and many useful commands that can help you get going...use this site at your own risk, I haven't tried it...https://ssl.safaribooksonline.com/trial

hey, i've burned iboot to a dvd and i've set my compaq laptop bios to boot from dvd, but it never boots from dvd.
any ideas to help??
