Hey I had a question for TheeMan or any of the mods who might know. Can Ultimate Edition 1.8 64-Bit be touchscreen enabled? I'm wanting to get the new HP Pavilion tx2500( http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1199 ), and am wondering if I would somehow need to keep the HP drivers and try to get them to work with Ultimate or if Ultimate had some way of detecting the hardware and enabling the touchscreen? Again, touchscreen isin't required to run Ultimate on the notebook, but it sure would be awesome to have a touchscreen enabled Ultimate Edition on this!! :D

Thanks for your help!

Could it be done? I'm going to say "yes". Yes in the same vein that, yes, it's possible Moses actually parted the Red Sea or that yes, it's entirely possible Bigfoot could one day, knock on my door, announce that he just moved in next door and ask to borrow a cup of sugar. Does this mean any of the above are likely to happen? No. And that's really what lies at the heart of your question, now, isn't it; the likelihood of it happening.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but, ummm... Well, yeah, see, that's what I do around here.

Excuse my dumb question, but anyone here can answer me where is the upgrade script located and if it's possible to run it manually? I've deleted by mistake the desktop icon, I thought I won't need it if I'm already set up with the last Ultimate Edition 1.8 x64, where will I upgrade to higher than that? But then I opened my firefox which pops the default "Welcome abroad" page where TehMahn says the "upgrade" icon will take care of a few things (OOPS! :o )
So, if you can help me...
Thanks!
Ziv

I'm pretty sure this it is it right here.

Can someone confirm this is the most recent version of the script?

The files are located in /usr/share/ultimate, would be sh ./gamers.sh from that folder. If you have lost the files etc.

Open a terminal and paste the following:
Code: Select all
mkdir /usr/share/ultimate
cd /usr/share/ultimate/
rm -R *
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/blackcry.mod
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/halloween_theme.s3m
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/NIN_HEAD.S3M
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/axelfmix.mod
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/playlist.m3u
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/bootscript.sh
wget http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/ubuntu_ico.png
chmod +x gamers.sh
sudo echo "[Desktop Entry]
Name=Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Comment=Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Exec=gksudo sh /usr/share/ultimate/gamers.sh
Icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png
Terminal=True
Type=Application
Categories=GNOME;Utility;System;" > /usr/share/applications/ueupgrade.desktop

You should now have an icon located under Applications >> System, if you want it on your desktop change the echo to:
Code: Select all
echo "[Desktop Entry]
Name=Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Comment=Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Exec=gksudo sh /usr/share/ultimate/gamers.sh
Icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png
Terminal=True
Type=Application
Categories=GNOME;Utility;System;" > ~/Desktop/ueupgrade.desktop

Hope this helps, let me know if you still have problems.

Oh, right! That definately helps, I only deleted the desktop shortcut icon, not the whole /usr/share/ultimate/ folder, so I've got enough just by using the "echo" part to place the icon back in the desktop.
Thanks a lot!

Hey
I got my Lenovo X61 running this brilliant distro and it rocks! Almost everything running out of the box and the little things that didn't work were trivial and needed a little tweaking.
Here's a little something I like to use, I use the desktop cube with 4 desktops but I tend to confuse between them, so I've set a different background for each one of them using this little cute software called "Wallpapoz" , and I've "gimped" the original background to four different versions, I attach them here for you to have. Hope you like it...
Ziv

P.S The blue one is the untouched original, just changed the name and put them all together for comparison.

Nice artwork, you should post it in the Your art section of this forum, I am sure many would appreciate it. I thought I would also post that wallpapoz is on the Ultimate Edition repo for others, it can be installed by:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get wallpapoz

Thanks,
