I sometimes re-install a few times in one day!!! One day, I tried out 4 distros. Installed them all one at a time(reformatted each time). Today, I tore apart 2 PIIIs to make one good one. After fighting with the both of them most of the afternoon, I finally got one good one which I am posting from as we speak. I have only been using Linux since February of this year so I have a lot of learning to do!!

thanks for all your help folks, i actually installed version 1.9/64bit and now i have no problems compiz starts up fine now. i have not tried to have emerald and awn start at startup though. thanks again all of you. :mrgreen:
