I know how to use it-works fine but when I try & record with the mic,the icon in taskbar changes to a "hard disc" & says "saving to hard disc, but will just sit there & sit there & sit there

Is it something I'm not doing ? & YES !! did Google & found this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/istanbul/+bug/63996 however you guys are legends :geek: & may know the answer ! ;)

Also note the memory usage...

Thanks <BREW>

Howdy Nick...first thought is make sure in all your mixer settings the mic isn't muted somewhere (I know ya prolly already did that ;) )...another thing, try running from Terminal to get feedback on any errors returned...seems that bug has been around since 2006!!! I tied usin' Istanbul once...video choppy, poor quality...didn't try it at all recording sound...tried changing some video settings but that didn't help me either...so haven't used it since...My advice, since the bug doesn't seem to get their attention enough to wanna fix it, ya done good postin' here to see if someone has resolved the prob or found a workaround :D .. but ya might wanna start lookin' for somethin' else to use (just in case) 8-) that doesn't have any probs recording video with audio... good luck bro', hope ya get somethin' worked out on it <BREW>

I have used istanbul many, many times to make screencasts (me running twinview cinelerra & compiz, used cinlera to add the music), but never recorded audio. I have used cinelerra in the past to add audio, I don't know if this will work or not for you. Just a suggestion. lol that was a long time ago September 02, 2006
