1.8 x86_64 + ultimate repos ??

Postby binskipy2u » Wed Aug 06, 2008 9:54 pm

when you install ultimatix script arent the ultimate repos already there to get all you need?
or is adding the ultimate repos going to give you say... more codecs? or something..

what am asking is, if i were to install 1.8 64 and install ultimatix script, is this the same as adding ultimate repos, or should i DO BOTH and run ultimatix? or run ultimatix first , then install ultimate repos and get more of the "goodies"
what order should i do things, and is there any advantage?

just wondering, since a sticky post regarding adding ultimate repos to 1.8_64 has me confused..
thanks

Howdy bin, the repos are included in the Ultamatix script and will be installed in your repository if they're not already there. If you already have the repos in your repository, then Ultamatix will continue with the installations. Does that clear it all up?? If not, we'll try'er again :D 8-)

Can we say, "ambiguous posts" ?
Here it is in a nut-shell for ya....
You install Ultimate Edition (any version) and you will have access to the Ultimate Edition repository which contains all the software that is available to Ultamatix as well. So, the answer is "NO" ... you do not have to run Ultamatix to attain an additional software, you can simply run an 'apt-get' command or open synaptic and search for software there. There is no need to install Ultamatix on top of a Ultimate Edition OS. The only thing that comes in handy by installing Ultamatix, is the ability to simply 'look' at the software available in TheeMahn's repository. And to be honest, I don't think that "all" of his software is available through Ultamatix yet.
ANOTHER NOTE:
I believe that the Ultamatix software is not even final yet and is still in Alpha stage for testing purposes. Just so you know that what you have is NOT the final release. ;)
