Its weird but i cant tweak my firefox because the tools options menu in ultimate edition is missing? where i can find it. My hard drive died and im currently running live dvd so i cant install things. help me please i want to download something but it cant be saved because the default location is desktop. i want it to be changed at my usb drive

Its not just Ultimate Edition .... its any *nix based Fire Fox browser is missing this. I'm in Ubuntu right now and don't have that option. Are you thinking of 'Tools>>Add-Ons' or what about 'Edit>>Preferences' ???

I guessing your talkin' about "Tools" on the "FF" menu bar...got mine (FF3.01)..there's 'Web Search, Downloads, Add-ons, Error Console, Page Info, & Clear Private Date' in the drop-down box...to download to a different directory, that's under 'Edit/Preferences'...or maybe I'm misunderstanding something here...I'm using Ultimate Edition 1.8x64...

to change the download directory, yep it's edit>preferences.
