Terminal Services Client

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

Terminal Services Client

Postby csc2ya » Fri Jul 25, 2008 9:58 am

I'm running Ultimate Edition 1.8. Occasionally, I need to connect to windows machines, which I use the terminal services client for.

When I was running the standard build of Ubuntu Hardy Heron, I could get out of full screen mode by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Enter

However, on trying this on ultimate edition, it no longer works. Is there any way to get that keypress working again, or an alternative way to leave full screen mode without logging off the windows machine?

I'm not familiar with what you are running, but have you tried using xbindkeys to get your old key-strokes back? Its a little program that allows you to set up key-combinations to execute certain tasks, but you will need to know what the new combo is in order to utilize the xbindkeys. Does this apply/ help at all? Sorry if not.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, i'm not sure what I would need to set in it to get that key combo to work.

What program are you using to access your networking to your windows machines? Are you using some kind of virtual desktop? I'm not sure what you are trying to get the full screen mode exit'd from. What program are you using? I access windows machines every day from Ultimate Edition and am never in the need to exit a full screen, so I'm a little confused on what your trying to get out of full screen from. Can you be a little more specific :?: :?: :?:

I'm just using the terminal services client in the internet menu. I've got the main machine I connect to set up in a specific way to stop other people from rebooting or shutting it down as theres always stuff running on it.

The main way i've done it, is to remove the shutdown button from the start menu, and added links to the restart and shutdown commands on the desktop.

The normal way of getting out of a full screen session would be either pressing Ctrl+Alt+Enter, or selecting disconnect from the shutdown menu, but neither of these will work, either due to something that's been changed in Ultimate Edition, or due to the way that i've got the server configured.

Sorry, I really can't help you out here. I don't ever play with this program. Good Luck though and hopefully someone else that has some experience with it will chime in here.

easy fix

find what command you type into the terminal as in apps>accessories>terminal

when in the connection, just push control alt f1 and then type killall that command.
