Ultimate Edition 1.8 32 bit

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

Re: Ultimate Edition 32 bit???

Postby Revro » Mon May 12, 2008 5:37 pm

Ultimate Edition is a superb distro and since i think that noone here wants for Ultimate Edition to become Ubuntu version of Vista :) please take as much time as you need to make a 1.8 32bit as good as the 1.7 32bit version is :)

i have no problem to wait for 1.8 32bit, and if someone cant wait then he just have to install 1.7 32bit for now.

if 8.04 has problems with Wine then please wait with the 1.8 32bit release until these problems are solved. wine is truly one of the most important part of Ultimate Edition.

you are doing a great work and if one takes in account that a one person has done so many quality releases during last two years then i must say Respect.

Thank you and good luck

Hi,

I'm new to the UU forums and just glancing at what was going on w/ the UU 32 bit still being worked on and some people complaining about it not being out yet. Hmmmm....I support the efforts of those making a free product! Theemann, I am almost ready to convert to ubuntu, but not yet. I've been interested for some time and have read both the Ubuntu forums and UU forum and am really interested in using UU. I'm going to buy a couple of hdds soon and will have both machines running UU 1.8 32 bit!! I'll probably have to ask for a lot of help with a new OS. So, for my 2 cents, everyone dedicated in making a product better such as with Ubuntu, are greatly appreciated. Everyone should be made to wait because it takes time to make something better.

Hey TheeMahn hang in there. I know only too well what it is like in this life to lose things both personal and material.

Now people, Theemahn is the Doctor and we are his patients. We ALL need to just sit in the waiting room and wait to be called. That is how it works.

In my house, I am the cook, and not a bad one I am told. So when I am making something special, it takes time. I have pride in my work. When I am asked how much longer etc, my reply is.....

If you want crap you can have it in 5 minutes. If you want perfection and actually want to enjoy the offering then it will be ready when it is ready.

I refuse to serve crap.

Everybody who is complaining or asking the question please know that if you want crap it is gettable now elsewhere. If you want the Ultimate (32bit) then wait. It will be ready when it is ready.

By the way, I am 64bit all the way so I am already enjoying the Ultimate. :D

Just my 3 cents worth. (I like to be different)

I say don't release it until you're ready to. If someone wants 32Bit, they can certainly use any of the other distributions out there in the mean time. 1.7 is still around, and I was using it just a little while ago. You're doing this as a hobby. The people are mad because you're not providing something that you've done on your own and at no cost to them. If they are ungreatful for your hard work then so be it, leave them to be ungreatful and let them move on to another distribution. In the mean time the users who appreciate your hard work will sit and wait quietly until their time comes to reap the benefits of your labors.

Great news... Wine & wine doors are in w/o error, performing final touches, will not be able to upgrade 8 packages on the live disk... hal being one of them bug reports are filed against it, after installed upgrades fine, I bet I upgraded 200 packages so I am not going to cry over a little spilled milk. Installs without error, had to fix a bunch of errors I am not responsible to fix, but oh well almost done, may be uploading it this eve ;) No promises.

current stats, remember not done yet...

theemahn@SledgeHammer:~$ dd if=/dev/dvd of=UE18.iso
2684032+0 records in
2684032+0 records out
1374224384 bytes (1.4 GB) copied, 151.826 s, 9.1 MB/s

I am going to "be on it" all day, building final build now, burn & test & if good will be uploading it while I sleep, admin & mirrors will have their stab it it first 24 hours worth, forum members can then have at it. Stay tuned... Sorry it took so long ladies and gents.

Building for the last time hopefully:

Compiz I built by hand git cutting edge... As well as additional plugins... Burn & test. Simply awesome...

installed & playing with toys, there were 15 updates funny only showed 8 during build...

It will be uploaded this eve... I can now take a stress related, much needed vacation ;)

I also apologize I have not responded to PM's even admin, I may now have that time, 30 or 40 to go through now, something has to give... I will also be honest in saying this not that there is something wrong with the 32 bit counterpart; as soon as it is uploaded I am going back to 64 bit Ultimate Edition 1.8 with my CPU it is very responsive, when I tell it to do something it says yesterday.

Enjoy,

TheeMahn
