Running Ultimate Edition without an internet connection?

I have been putting off making the switch from Windows to Linux for long enough. I have decided to use Ultimate Edition 3.5 as my OS. My concerns are that I do not have an internet connection on my personal computer. I do however have access to computers that are online. Is it possible to use a flash drive as my media for updates and upgrades or will it be more of a problem than it is worth?

I appreciate your time and Thank You for any ideas or advice you can give me.

Never upgrade ultimate edition.
Only upgrade firefox/chromium and the kernel.
You may require an internet connection for installing the kernel and its dependencies.
web browsers can be downloaded and used on a different computer.

Trying to update/upgrade from an external drive containing the same.. is like a screw driver that breaks in half when you try to screw a screw in....nonetheless it is possible to get it right but highly relative to you as per the theory of relativity.

In layman terms the problems outweigh towards getting the correct result.

Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate the info and even if it means that I am stuck with Windows for a bit longer until I get an internet connection.

Thanks again.
