3.5.1 installation problem

Hi,

It's been a while since my last posting here at Ultimate Edition forums. I wanted some advise on the installation of 3.5.1. During the last two days I have installed UUE3.4 and then UUE3.5. Those installations went well. However; when I tried to install 3.5.1, I get an installation failure. The files will copy, but when the installation process runs to 30% with the language being installed, I get an error and the installation stops. I have tried three times, but the same issue occurs.

All three ISOs have been downloaded from sourceforge.

Any and all help is appreciated!

I believe that part of the error reporting wanting me to send a report via this command "ubuntu-bug ubiquity".

When I get the time today, I'll isolate the drive in the computer and try to do a reinstall. The checksum of the iso has been verified as being correct. Burning of the disk was on the slowest mode possible. Btw. I did another download of the iso.

The 3.5.1 livecd works well. I did not see any problems with running the livecd.

Here are a few pics of the failed install process:
As you can tell in the 5th pic the install process stops at 30% with the installation of the language pack. The next picture after that shows part of the error.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried just skipping the language pack installation? If you expand the installer, showing what the installer is actually doing, during the language installation you can click skip.

No, I have not tried to 'skip' that part of the installation. It looks like UUE3.5.1 downloads language files then tries to install them. Can one install the 3.5.1 edition without internet connection...preventing the language pack installation? Or, does UUE3.5.1 require the internet during installation?

Thanks....

You can install without the internet yes. But skipping the download and install of the language packs is also an option.

I installed without the internet. I tried to stop the language pack by skipping that part of the install, but failed to stop it because there was no way for me to stop it. The install interface will only let me minimize the installation from Desktop 1 which is the install, then I go back to the livecd desktop. The livecd did install to the 3rd drive, but I am left with a blinking curser when I boot to the 3rd drive. Hmmm. I'll go back in to the livecd and see if I need to 'fix' the grub. UUE3.4 and UUE3.5 do install well. No problems with them.

I have check the cd to which I burned the UUE3.5.1. The size on the cd is 3.57 GB. The ISO file size is 3,748,854 kb. Comparing that to UUE3.5.1 download on sourceforge is 3.8 GB. Wonder if this matters? The checksum has been verified and ok'd.

ryanvade, can you check your cd to see if the 3.57 GB is correct? Wondering if it's an error burning the cd?

If the MD5SUM is correct, then the iso is okay. You can try to check the MD5SUM of the disk. Chances are that the MD5SUM will NOT be the same on the disk as the iso file.

The checksum was the same. I use a checksum prog and it came up ok.
