Quick Fix

Switch to LXDE or XFCE at Login-->Sessions

Do not run any other programs but WINE.

All this does is free up more RAM.

There is this...

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:

Packard Bell Pack Mate II 286 Intel 80286 1MB RAM

I was wondering this myself. I play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on Windows 7, (I know, I know), and I increased the virtual paging file, (think swap space), and it seemed to help. I had read where caching would use the pagefile before using RAM.
Is this true?
Thank you in advance!

I don't think it is supposed too. The windows registry would say if the page file has a higher priority.

Be careful, OnoSendai, you are coming really close to hijacking this thread. Please start a new thread for other questions. ;)

Off-Topic :
Just forum policy. From my perspective, the original question was about WINE and ram usage. Your question is about Windows 7 and the page file. And how Windows allocates "Ram" to programs. This has nothing to do with WINE because Linux uses swap and allocates it differently then Windows does Page files. You are not in any kind of trouble, no harsh feelings. Just a warning. It may be a small question, but it does not belong in a question about swap and WINE.
