This post is scary and confusing. I have no idea what's going on here, but I may try to hook up my Brother 3-in-1, so thanks guys!! It's always sitting on the network...mocking me.

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:

I have just installed my Epson sx125 on a 12.04 based system and i got the driver from Epsons site http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/searchModule (I can see in the list that you will need the same driver as I use for mine exempt mine don't have use for the wi-fi-driver.)
There are several packages to download and they have to be installed in the right order, but if you do it with the Gdebi-packageinstaller it will inform you if you have missing dependencies and if your aren't installing in the right order.
I thought it was quite easy ;) - at least in comparison with installing my Brother MFC-J6510DW 8-)

Sorry that did not do it :(
I presume that you are trying over wi-fi and that I cant help you with before tomorrow (it's midnight here now) I have the possibility to try connecting to my wifes Epson SX510W and maybe then see what the problem is.

IF you are using USB, then there are two thing you have to do. Post the output of the following commands
Code: Select all
lsusb

Code: Select all
gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules
