Right Click "Scripts" is missing

Postby Zaileion » Sat Sep 29, 2012 3:30 am

When you right click on the desktop the menu that pops up has the "scripts" option. Which is awesome, no other Distro has this customization. I use Ultimate Edition for several reasons this being one of them. But all of the sudden its missing. Wouuld someone please help inform me how to get it back so i don't have to reinstall the entire system. its a critical part of my daily computer use.

I did recently install updates, and that could have been the culprit but I’m not sure, because i think the "scripts" option was there after i completed the updates, but i certainly could be wrong.

Anyway, the .deb package you left me on the link will not install. I get an error message stating "later package already installed"

After I removed the old ultimate edition scripts package ()or atleast apt0get says it was removed) and tried to reinstall the one available from your link i get the same error message as above when using Gdebi, and the following when using the terminal.

vaughn@UE-3:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i ultimate-edition-nautilus-scripts-1.5.deb

here is the error when i try to install the first dependency:

However the following packages replace it:
libnautilus-extension1a:i386 libnautilus-extension1a

here is the error when i try to install the 2nd dependency in the above list:

Do you know what the dependencies of the nautilus scripts are? If i remember correctly if you removed xterm or some other package it will result in packaging errors. If nothing else works you can open synaptic select the package and got to Package->Properties->Installed Files and manually remove the files associated with nautilus scripts. Blow that all away as you really dont need it. It's nice to have don't get me wrong, but you really only need a terminal. If you want to brows as root, you can bring up alt+f2 and type gksu nautilus or whatever your file manager is, or simply type your file manager at a root prompt. PCmanFM can take care of that also. So many things to choose from with open source. Good luck...

http://gtk-apps.org/content/show.php/Ultimate+Edition+Nautilus+Scripts+Pack?content=104451 has anautilus scripts .deb. You can try the fix broken packages under edit in synaptic to try to repair , or even try running apt-get --fix-missing, forgot to mention before. hope this helps...
