Running RAID?

The Ultimate Guide for the rest of us

Running RAID?

Postby Tool » Sat Jun 15, 2013 3:49 pm

I figured this belonged here since I really have no exp with RAID setups. Ok, first of all I do understand the different RAID setups and how they work. My ?'s are specifically for RAID 0. I understand that you must have 2 or more HDD's of same size and I'm guessing same performance too. Can I do a RAID 0 with a 320GB and a 300GB and have a 120GB as a storage only drive? 2. Can Ultimate Edition do RAID? 3. IS it complicated to set up? and 4. If I can set it up like that, can I also still partition sections for running multiple distros?
Thanks guys. :D

Yeah, Wind is the RAID king. ;)

Are you using a raid controller or mdadm? A raid controller is of course best. Just setup in the BIOS, and the Ultimate Edition installer will handle the rest. Usually anyway. Definitely ask Wind, he has the most experience.

Ok. Thanks. I don't have a controller. It'll be bios setup
