So yes I'm new to Ultimate and do like it but have had a few issues, like constant system crash after updates.. My question what would be a good alternative to 3.4 to run on my system posted in my sig.. Would 3.2 or 3.3 be just as good, and what is the support for these.. I hate windows and have not been satisfyed with other Linux distros..

Dont bother using unity,
Switch to gnome-classic ....by logging out.

Both Ultimate Edition and blackopal64 have it running stable with compiz.

I just downloade and installed Ultimate 3.3 it is what 3.4 should have been.. Clean and fast install with no issue.. My only question is how to revert back to what ever version of firefox came with install.. The new 15.0 sucks and won't spell check.. The version that came with install was just fine..

All in all firefox 15 is a bit more buggy and its evident in windows7 too....can try using chrome 21..its faster and stabler than it ever was.
Uninstall firefox through software centre...i dont know if Ultimate Edition 3.3 uses firefox 15?

For my usage UE3.4 is very stable.

AND no updates are not required so please DO NOT update!. Try Ultimate Edition 3.4 without updates and manually upgrade software versions once available.
Your hardware is smartly retrofitted and am sure UE3.4 will do more than fine on your athlon + 550ti( get the latest drivers from nvidia).

NOTE- [Update only through command line if a software "states" it --if ubuntu ppa url is given then only run-
#sudo apt-get update].

thanks firefox 15 came as a upgrade which I did not ask for.. I was trying to do a upgrade of my nvidia drivers in terminal, as going the additional driver route keep on failing to install driver.. So basically it installed all kinds of things that I did not have a chance to examine.. I'm still a noob at this so, not sure what the hell I'm doing most of the time, but am learning.. I orginally had 3.4 installed but it was buggy as hell, even before installing any updates.. I will give it anothe try, but will probably run it side by side with 3.3 just to see what the difference is.. I hate windows and have been wanting to get rid of it for some time..

Hi Blackwolf Ok so i will give that a try.. But here is what the login issues is.. When I opened up Chrome I got this pop up message

Unlock login keyring.

the log in keyring did not get unlocked when you logged in to your computer

the unlock password is incorrect..

I will give you suggestions a try to see what happens..

This is strange.. Under account it shows I have a 5 digit or letter password. When I try to change it it says current password wrong.. Problems is I did not use anything less than a 10digits for a password.. Now I can't figurre what the password is.. I did set up my computer to login automatically during installation..

please use simple passwords
dont forget it!!
for simplicity use the same root and user password(im not responsible if agent smith enters and infects your system with viruses).
if you are using different passwords for user and root please.....take note.

does your isp require a username and password login??
have you saved any passwords with chrome?.........
