Moving Conky from top right to bottom left

Postby Zaileion » Thu Sep 06, 2012 9:05 pm

I have 3 monitors in a triangle shape, with one on top in the middle of the two below, and for some reason the video card drivers thinks there is an area outside the left and right edge of the top monitor which is equally wide to the bottom two. Making a rectangle out of the 3 monitors instead of a (sort of) triangle shape. Anyway, I’ve figured out most of the workarounds, but when I try to edit the conky.rc file to switch from top right to bottom left (so Conky opens inside a viewable area) and later reboot my computer, the conky.rc file has been changed back to the default top right.
How do I stop this from happening and keep conky.rc set to bottom left?

Every reboot I have to go into the conky.rc file and hash out the location option for "top right", and remove the hash from bottom left. Can anyone advice how i make this change permanent?

Here's a few things I can think of that might be causing the issue. 1. Are you using more than the cocky.rc to run conky, such as a weather script, a startup script, or something else that might cause separate conky windows. If so there could be a 2nd RC hidden elsewhere hat one o the scripts keeps locating. ( this ha happened to me in the past)
2. Are you modifying the RC in gedit under root?

You might also want to try saving actual coordinates , instead of these location options. It'll take some trial and error to find the right location but it'll be set exactly where you want it.
