uninstall

Postby dracko76 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 7:41 pm

Hi everyone, being a silver surfer and new to linux, ultimate is the first one I've got running great with no hassles at all,at the moment it's installed alongside
windows, however I've just got another computer so I'm going to put ultimate on that one on it's own and leave windows on my original computer.
my question is,how do I uninstall ultimate off the original computer to just leave windows ? it's not in the virtual pc folder of windows. Hope someone can help
cos it's a big chunk of hard drive taken up and I don't want to have to reinstall windows.

you could also use gparted delete the linux partitions from a live cd/dvd resize the windows partition then follow the instructions, resizing the windows partition can be risky but can be done successfully.(not 100% sure gparted will resize a ntfs partition)

you'll love ultimate edition once u get it all set up on a pc of its own, i've been playing with linux for a few years now and its just got constantly better, i only keep windows around as im a gamer still and thats the only area that i have found linux lacking in, but thats not the fault of linux.

easiest way would be to backup any data you need then just stick the windows disc in and format / reinstall that way

I have my eye on you, you are a smart fella. Allow me to make a suggestion, since the guy is a newb to linux & nothing wrong with that I would suggest a windows based tool. I suggest only freeware or opensource even where windows is involved, yes they exist ;)

I recently had to resize my at the time 1.5TB drive to 1.8TB we are talking alot of information & had no desire to lose anything. At the time I had windows installed and utilised that tool to make such happen. Sure gparted could have handled the same task. I want users to understand I do not turn my back even on the users of windows. I am not biased ;)
