Your FAQ notes the following Ultimate Edition releases as having KDE desktop:
2.7
2.5.
2.3
2.1
1.9
Are any of these KDE version 3?

I believe he means KDE 3.X as opposed to KDE 4.X, and I believe all those are 3.X, I don';t think KDE4 came into play until UE2.9

Yes, exactly. I've decided to try out Ultimate Edition when I get home PC, and will buy various DVDs/CDs of distros I want to trial in couple weeks. I do have one requirement though....I detest KDE version 4 and Gnome version 3, and absolutely don't want to get stuck with either. Distrowatch has not been helpful in this, nor has Google search been forthcoming with the necessary info to avoid KDE4 and Gnome3.

Anyway, if you're sure about the releases, I'll put the one prior to UE2.9 on my buy list!

Buy list? Do you have slow or costly download service? Don't pay too much for the discs. If you were in the UK I'd post you 1 or 2 gratis!

Thanks but it ain't a problem...compared to what I will pay for Windows 2000 and XP Pro discs, Linux is dirt cheap...except maybe that Toorox version 09.2010 i386!

I'm on public computers til I can get home PC, and will want all the DVDs/CDs before I first go on internet with it....one more security measure (I'm the overcareful sort), plus I think DVD/CD fron OSDisc, LinuxCD, etc. is more reliable than anything I could try to download. Never done it before you know.

I'm a distro-hopper on occasion but sometimes use Ubuntu Privacy Remix for bank transactions.

I've got a Welsh joke for you:
Why do Welshmen put their boots on backwards?
So they can get better traction in the sheep fields!
