More packaging issues

Postby stlsaint » Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:44 pm

Guys im really sorry to keep posting this issue but it is getting real persistent and im not really getting any help on it. I dont understand why one package removes entire desktop environments like such. This issue is coming from lintian, qemu, network-manager and others. I just wanted to remove network-manager to fix a issue but i cant cause it removes all this:

Code: Select all

stlsaint@devcore:~$ sudo apt-get purge network-manager
[sudo] password for stlsaint:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  knm-runtime* lubuntu-desktop* network-manager* network-manager-gnome*
  network-manager-kde*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 5 to remove and 14 not upgraded.
After this operation, 9,523kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
Abort.

This brings me to three total post on this issue and it makes me seem like a jerk to keep posting but something has to give on this! Im using Ultimate Edition 2.7 which i know has other desktop environments installed so do i just need to wait till 3.0 to get pure gnome? But then what about non desktop specific packages such as lintian and qemu?
