Am I doing something right?

The Ultimate Guide for the rest of us

Am I doing something right?

Postby Creaxe » Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:37 pm

I've currently figured out how to do everything that was asked in the F.A.Q section of the site.
It basically explained, there are two ways to do things.
One with a DVD, the other the USB.

I chose the USB part, and am currently uploading it as of now with the client.
Now, I'm not sure what to do after this.
The download is currently at the first stage. (1.Downloading the files) and I am aware of what to do after, it's pretty basic. But, what do I do after the client has finished downloading all the nessesary files onto the USB STICK, and how would I fire it up from my USB and possibly install it the correct way??

I skimmed the site, but a basic 1 to 5 step, with what to do would be amazing.
I'm sure I can figure it out, but, I think it's best I ask the "Community" lol
Thanks.

I wan't to install Ultimate Edition, but I wasn't exactly sure how I was supposed to.
On the F.A.Q page, on the main site. If you scroll all the way down on that page, you can find the section How do I test / install Ultimate Edition?.
Then scrolling further down, you will see Windows, Linux and USB Those are directions, I am using. (Just those)

the Client is called Ultimate Edition LiveUSB Creator
And, it's version 2.8.

VERY simple to do.

But like all things, it is all about perspective.

I tend to see things a bit different then most, but I will try to make this as easy as I can for you.

first question I have is what OS do you have installed now and what os are you using to make the pin drive ?

That's fine.
I'm using Windows 7 Home, 64-Bit right now.
And, I'm trying to get Ultimate Edition 2.9 onto the stick.

A pin drive, this is like any other ordinary flashdrive or USB, right? With a password encrpytion ?

I think my computer is fine' in terms of hardware, I think it's just getting it set up correctly.
Can you use this as a second OS, along side the one you currently have. Like my Windows 7?

Ok so download this

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/downloads/Universal-USB-Installer/Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.5.3.exe

Take and select your ISO as the Ultimate Edition 2.9 already downloaded , rename it to something like
Code: Select all
ubuntu-10.10-x86 (or x64)

Now select ubuntu 10.10 (x86) or (x64) from drop down list, this will enable the use of persistence as well.

I would recommend you pre format the USB flash drive to fat before hand.

Let it do its thing, once done restart and use bios boot order to boot to the USB pin drive just made.

Use the default option fresh out of the gate and see how it works in live.

Any issues, post back.
