cursor problems in ultimate edition 2.8 {SOLVED}

Postby rekharajct » Fri Apr 22, 2011 1:07 am

:?:
I have just installed ultimate edition 2.8.

But the cursor is not working properly in terminal(konsole).

There is no syncronization with the cursor and the mouse pointer.

By default some space is added whenver we type anything and the cursor is found not immediately after the typed entry but in a position few spaces to the right side of the typed entry.

It looks like this-> username@user:~$<some space>|

This space increases as we type more.
Cursor do not come to the position where we point to.So it is very difficult to select , copy and paste.Cursor is always positioned a few spaces to the right of command prompt($).

This problem occurs only in terminal.No such problems in text editor or anywhere else.

Welcome to Ultimate Edition.
Have you installed all updates and rebooted...?
Sometimes and shutdown and a restart shoots everything in place...
P.S. also have seen this when compiz is enabled with a lower end system card, or one that is not configured yet.
Post your system specs and maybe we can trouble shoot it for you....

:) My system has Intel Pentium Dual CPU 2GHz and 1 GB RAM.

If I open terminal by following steps there is no such problems.
Right click on Desktop->select "scripts"->Select "Terminal Here".

But if open terminal via Applications->System Tools->Konsole the problem still exists.

In order to update I ran the update manager.But some packages were not installed due to some network authentication problems.

Use Applications>Accessories>Terminal.

Konsole in the default Terminal Emulator for KDE..... think as your using the Gnome environment this might be your problem. ;)

:) Yes it worked .Thanks a lot
