Installing On a PS3

Postby Bnjamin_Breeg » Thu Jan 14, 2010 5:55 pm

Greetings one and all. Kind of new to the Ultimate Edition. Not really had it intoduced to me by the creator back when he was working on it when it was 1.4 . Anyhow has anyone ever tried to install any version on a PS3? I know I can install Ubuntu on it. Even read a couple of things about it online. I would really like some input on this before , so I don't kill my kids PS3.

Thanks

The main difference between Ubuntu and Ultimate Edition is size. The Ultimate Edition distro basically is much bigger than the vanilla Ubuntu. More Apps, more Utilities, more options. There is probably some tweaking under the hood (so to speak) but my feeling is if Ubuntu works, and you have the HD space, Ultimate Edition should work fine. Whether 9.10 will work on a PS3 however is outside my experience.

Thanks for the help. I already know that the "Plain Jane" Ubuntu will work.I put it on my brothers about a year ago. I just wanted to spice my kid's up a little, with Ultimate Edition. And was checking to see if anyone else had done this before and if they had any sort of conflicts with anything. I mean in theory there should be no problems. Thanks again.
