Untuntu Teak "Unlock" issue

The Ultimate Guide for the rest of us

Untuntu Teak "Unlock" issue

Postby Star Picket » Sun Nov 22, 2009 6:56 am

I'm new to Ultimate but have been using Linux for around 6 years.

I have Ubuntu Tweak installed but it won't allow me to "unlock" Source Editor, Third Party Sources and Package Cleaner. I'm accustomed to using these options. Is this a policy issue? How can I activate this feature?

Regards
John

Hello Star Picket and welcome to the U.E Forum.

To solve the issue with the Ubuntu Tweak =>"unlock" ,
you need to insert the Root password in the pop up window and Enter.

Hi Star Picket,
Not sure if your issue was the same as mine but I ended up downloading the latest version of Tweak. All my problems went away. ;)

thank you everyone for your replies,

As I said, I used Linux for a number of years now (Mandrake, Mepis, Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint now Ultimate Edition) and I now find that NONE of my authentications are working. I even went the the Authentication manager to approve myself but it wouldn't accept changes.

Moebius, I also has the same problem you speak of, but updated it and all the sources lists etc are now visible. Also third party packages are also visible but grayed out.

It seems to be a bigger problem with "root" authentication, although having said that Synaptic etc. all work okay. Mmmmmm...

Any suggestions are welcome.

John

Can you see an 'unlock' button - bottom right?
Click it and enter your password.
Does it solve your issue?

G'day Moebius,

I've used this package many time in the past in Mint, but it will not "unlock". There is no password screen pop up for me to sign in as root.

Regards
John

Edit: This was a bug listed in the October release of Ubuntu Tweak but is reported as solved and repaired in recent versions.

I ran the LIVE Ultimate Edition and installed the latest version Ubuntu Teak and it reported "Authentication Error". This suggests to me that this is either a regression with Ubuntu Tweak or a bug in the Ultimate Edition 2.4 64 bit version. Any clues?
