Killed Panel Applet for Enabling Networking/Wireless[Solved]

Postby Driver » Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:20 pm

... :o ...

...whilst trying to remove another one. In fact, I might have taken two or three out in one shot, I'm not positive as I started to panic the moment I saw the little networking gadget vanish from my top panel.

I tried right-clicking on panel & picking Add to Panel but cannot find the applet that I wish to add back. Nothing jumps out at me when looking at the menus. The Gnome Find (?) app that comes up at boot doesn't know it by the keywords network, wireless, or connection.

Anyone know what it's called so I can search a little smarter?

For now at any rate, I seem to be connected wirelessly, but don't know what'll happen if I travel across town and need to grab an open connection.

Thanks!

Right click, add to panel - Notification Area.
Then if Network icon does not reappear, read the following:

Ah. That explains why I thought I'd taken out two different things (wireless/wired thing and the display configurator that appeared when I connected the computer to a television). It's just a general notification gizmo.

They both came back when I added the one with that name.

Thank you.
