Upgrading From 2.1 to 2.2

The Ultimate Guide for the rest of us

Upgrading From 2.1 to 2.2

Postby Levyon » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:20 pm

I'm wanting to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2, mainly because of the upgrade to 9.04. When I try to install the upgrade from the Update Manager, it says it can only do a partial upgrade and last time I tried that, the OS started getting weird and I had to do a clean install. I didn't think about getting 2.2 till now. Can I upgrade through a live DVD of 2.2 by adding it as a repository? Or is there a way I can get a full upgrade from the Update Manager?

Hello Levyon.

It is always recommended to do a clean installation. To do a upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 is not impossible, because a mod from here did it once, but its not a easy task. I wouldn't recommend anyone to do a system upgrade, because most times it causes lots of incompatibility with the applications & packages!! So my recommendation is to download a copy of Ultimate Edition 2.2 & do a clean installation!!
