Hi
I have a Gigabyte mobo with Via Chrome9 P4M900 Integrated graphics. It worked fine in Windows XP and i could play online 3d mmorpgs. I tried to install the linux drivers for it once i switched to Ultimate Edition 2.1 from here
I installed it from the terminal in sudo mode
this was the result:
install the via driver!
............cp: cannot create regular file `/lib/modules/2.6.27-12-generic/kernel/drivers/char/drm/': Is a directory
chmod: cannot access `/lib/modules/2.6.27-12-generic/kernel/drivers/char/drm/drm.ko': No such file or directory
cp: cannot create regular file `/lib/modules/2.6.27-12-generic/kernel/drivers/char/drm/': Is a directory
chmod: cannot access `/lib/modules/2.6.27-12-generic/kernel/drivers/char/drm/via_chrome9.ko': No such file or directory
......done!
Original X config file was saved as /etc/X11/xorg.conf.viabak
I restarted the PC and X window system crashed leaving me with the command prompt. Since i am a linux noob w/o any knowledge of the command prompt, i promptly reinstalled Ultimate Edition 2.1. The stock drivers from Ultimate Edition is working fine w/o 3d acceleration so i cant play Nexuiz and other 3d games.
could anyone help me install the correct drivers? This is my system spec:
Intel Celeron 3.06 GHz
Gigabyte GA-VM900M Motherboard
2 Gig ddr2 ram with 256 MB shared graphics
Via Chrome9 P4m900 integrated graphics
