thanks for the welcome! :D

however, I dislike VPC. Mainly because it is still dependent on a host OS. I need to make wubi work. :D thanks for the reply

Wubi is only for Ubuntu, not Ultimate. The best way to use Windows with Ultimate is either dual boot or use VMPlayer and the builds from here: http://bagside.com/bagvapp/index.html
It is bone simple. Install VMPlayer and download the zip file of your choice(unzip it).
With Vmplayer you have access to all the cores of your cpu, you can adjust the amount of ram and pretty much anything else you want by editing the vmx file.
Those are the only options right now. If you can make Wubi work(which you can't) with Ultimate post back and let us all know!!!

I would like to add to Nicks and pch.'s post "Backup your Data"...there is also several programs out there..."Super Grub" I would download that and make a disc,it sometimes help to get back into your OS in case something goes wrong. And for backing up your MBR in Vista and to repair it..."EasyBCD"...download that into Vista
Never used Vmplayer...so I do not know to much about it, always dedicated a portion of my HD for a dual boot...now I have separate HD's for each install....
I have used "Wubi" in its infant stage...found I liked Ubuntu so much..did a dual boot...Ultimate Edition knocks the socks of the latter... ;)
PS..Welcome to Ultimate Edition from me.. :)

You can also use Virtualbox, Xen or KVM(all vitrtual environments) but VMPlayer is the easiest and best of those.
