Awesome :yoodude

But does this mean Ultimate Edition will turn into a pseudo rolling release or something like custom build your own Ultimate Edition Linux ?

On a different note you might need some fuzzy logic or AI code, for managing.

Looks revolutionary and good to see its not just proof of concept.

But ubuntu has a bright future albeit a bit shady. Mir isn't exactly in the best interests of everyone.

I dont mean to deviate....Systemd is already up and about in sid(unstable debian), arch etc.
Any chance of using debian as a base? I dont mean to offend because what you do usually(correctly put: Almost Always) requires a team of devs and other contributors working towards a clear vision of building an OS.

Ultimate Edition has a finely tuned carburettor and I know so in the future(7-9 months from now) it wont matter which base you use.

I think its probably best to let go of the bulk and focus on adding in more elegance. Sure there are more than 2 programs that can do the same things but it can be quite buggy(something you make it look oblivious by your skill and adeptness).

Even having Gnome 3.10 and kde 4.12 on the same system can have severe kerning, ppi and font color issues....irrespective of any other linux.

The tools you built are Awesome. Working with C is no joke. To build a custom OS and pulling in parts from the Ultimate Edition repo sounds really cool. But I think it needs to broaden out further and get more people involved to cater to a vast diversity of people. Why couldn't Ultimate Edition just be better on a Mac or Mac Pro than OSx?

Anyhoo, these are my ponderings.... I apologize if I've spoken too much.

Now me, I will be grinning as long as all these Ubuntu discrepancies are nailed!!!! I constantly get nailed by changes and new mistakes that are made with these Ubuntu's. Now, TheeMahn is like a magnet with these hassles, I think he sees them before they are coming! Of course, I know it has to do with his vast knowledge and experience! I am just going to be overly impressed when all this is finished, because then we then have access to your brilliance, TheeMahn! Now that is a major win in any book! I am dealing with over 5000 files at present for this 14.04 am doing, an boy is it a pain! Sure, I like change and improvements, but would be great if those changes would explained to us Amateurs! I feel most times, these developers feel we all have to be at their level of education!

What is really the greatest about all this, is now someone that is looking for their own kind of OS and is not overly educated will be able to create what they need! In college I knew of a course that was instructing students how to use Linux. Sure, back then I gave quite a few students advice to use Ultimate. Still, some wanted a system not as bulky with programs. Now, I see this all as great progress and best of intentions since everyone's needs are going to be met!!! From the beginner to the advanced!!! Is just one of the most beautiful things have heard of! Also as have said is going to end many sleepless nights for us amateurs! So many points in building these systems, where some old part gets tangled in! Then to remove and replace takes down 50 other pieces is rough! Keeping track of all these files is close to impossible! Computers are better suited for that purpose, so all this work by a pro as yourself is going to benefit everyone!

As I say, to me is a miracle this can happen for any Linux architecture! Am sure once is up and running as expected, will then be honed for other architectures so everyone can benefit. Still, we all must be happy and proud TheeMahn is willing to spend all this time creating this genius! We are plain lucky we have a great developer that want to help instead of just shrug and tell us "That's the way it is, if you don't like it go somewhere else!". Believe me I have seen those words many times and just from asking a question as to understand! I know I ramble and rumble quite a bit, but least I have been privy to some great help on here and will always appreciate that fact! Best wishes to all!!!

Now, I have went and really done it lol:
mate1.8.png
Mate 1.8 rockin on Ultimate Edition 4.3 (Trusty).

If im gonna spend the kinda time repostorm takes chewing through debs, it may as well be chewing through Mate 1.8 instead of Mate 1.6.

Coming soon to a server near you ;)

I am going to build Ultimate Edition 4.2 lite based on Mate 1.8 and really check it out. Ultimate Edition 4.3 has way too much stuff in it (kde and xfce) to really check out the new features.
