DaddyX3 wrote:Thanks TheeMahn. I'm up to my ears in confusion though right now! I've followed several different sets of instructions on the web for installing Myth, off the wiki and from ubuntu forums and just winging it with my own meathod. The funny is that my own method is the only one that has worked so far  But my remote wouldn't work and I tried several things and finally wiped out Myth to start over fresh again. Now I'm back in LIRC madness trying to get the ir blaster and the receiver working and communicating with Myth. I downloaded the tars for Myth the other night and went through yet another tutorial and when I was done I still did not have Myth front or backend installed even after make install. That was a nice waste of time!!! :x I think I was reading a Gentoo tutorial and I think some of the things suggested don't work in Ultimate Edition. So anyway ... I can see myself working on this freak'n thing for several more days

Unless I read that wrong, you are using LIRC ir blaster for remote, I presume USB (or is it the older serial), but I don't remember which Hauppauge you are using. The 150?
You prolly read The ir Blaster thread in the main Ubuntu forum.
Just for giggles, what does your /etc/modprobe.d/lirc look like?

Yes, the USB style ir blaster that comes with the PVR150 MCE edition. What does my "what" look like? To tell you the truth I have been installing, compiling, recompiling, deleting, removing, autoremoving and about every-other thing you could think of in the last 3-4 days!!! I don't even remember what the hell I'm supposed to be doing anymore! lol. Do you have one of these setups? Got any experience with it? I'm always down for a helping hand. I'm getting kind of worn out on the 15 different tutorials about how to get it working!!!! None of which have actually worked for me. Here's what I have:

Its a weird setup and very new. (matter of fact my remote and receiver are black and not silver as in this picture .. I'm positive that it is a newer model than what is shown - but looks the same)

I can tell from the picture where your problem is... you need batteries in the remote. ;)

Seriously, have you tried it on your vista to make sure the hardware is working like it should?

The configuration file for lirc should be in /etc/modprobe.d/lirc.
It will prolly need to be tweaked.
post it, we'll see if we can't find something that needs to be changed.
