Well I was struggling with the Ubuntu 7.10 install last week.
Thur I ran across the Ultimate. So I downloaded it and today decided to reinstall using Ultimate.
Some things to note.
Anyone using an HP dv6500.. forget getting the built-in wireless working. I tried EVERYTHING posted and no joy. I went ahead and popped for a USB wireless. netgear WPN111. works like a charm, especially when I black listed the broadcom drivers.
Got the wireless up and running and then ran install.
Went flawlessly, until.......Envy.
I had to uninstall Envy and reinstall the latest from http://albertmoline.com/nvidia_scripts1.html.
Works like a charm!!!
I am loving this! Can't wait for the upgrades to finish. Then I can install some the "must have for work" M$ apps. yuck.
But I am so dang happy to finally get this thing working on my laptop. Next stop both desktops!!!
