tv viewing options

Postby mangurt » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:29 am

Greetings all,
Got a question, well, actually I am looking for some guidance. I have a TV tuner card installed after market on my computer (pinnicale pci 800i). I got the card working via help from the v4l-dvb board. Here's what I am looking for. I would like to watch live tv on my computer. I have some digital stations in my area, but I have trouble picking the signal up because my system is in the basement of my house. Anywho, what is a good linux program to watch TV with? I read about mplayer, but looking at the website made my head hurt. I have been using linux for about 3 months now, but I am still stuck using windows at work (which I hate).
Thanks
mangurt

I would recomend the built-in "MythTV" front and backends that TheeMahn has provided with Ultimate Edition. Its very nice. If you have technical questions about the setup check out their site. Good Luck!
ps-there is another one that I have not tried yet called Elissa or something like that which "looks" really nice.

I was thinking about that, but the mythtv was not packaged with the UU 1.7 (unless I missed it)
