Installation locks-up

OK after some work and trouble shooting I figured out i had 2 issues.
1. my ati tv wonder pro card was cuasing issues booting up
2.I had to add..
/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/volatile/
/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/misc/

I want to thank Drama1981 for for your help and your guide. The only issue i had with your guide was that i had to add the two directories which was stated in this thread to get passed step 8

your welcome. glad you got it sorted out. idk why you had to add them 2 directories either. i notice sometimes i have to. but yet other times them directories are already there. its obviously a bug. i have filed a bug report against it with ati. not lets just see if they fix it. im not holding my breath though. heck they still havent fixed the diagonal tearing that sometimes appears when you move windows w/ compiz running (thas a very old bug). but anywayz im glad your all setup now. cheers
